I'm a Brooklyn-based psychotherapist offering online and in-person therapy across New York. I work with individuals navigating climate anxiety and eco-distress, career changes, relationship challenges, questions of identity and purpose, and other major life transitions. I also work extensively with men—particularly heterosexual men—many of whom are seeking a space to explore emotions, relationships, masculinity, ambition, loneliness, or vulnerability in a deeper and more honest way than they’ve previously felt able to. My approach is collaborative and grounded in insight, shaped by warmth, curiosity, and a deep respect for your inner world. I bring humor, honesty, and compassion into the therapy room, and I welcome all parts of you, especially the ones that feel messy, uncertain, or hard to name.
I specialize in the mental health impacts of the climate crisis. With over a decade of experience in climate technology before becoming a therapist, I understand how personal and overwhelming these concerns can feel. I support clients facing eco-anxiety, climate grief, burnout, and the weight of trying to make a difference in an uncertain world.
I also work with individuals navigating career transitions, burnout, relationship struggles, and periods of personal growth or reevaluation. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of what comes next. Together, we create space to better understand longstanding patterns, process difficult emotions, and build a life that feels more meaningful and sustainable.
A little more about me:
I hold degrees from Harvard (BA), the School of Visual Arts (MFA), Yale (MBA), and Columbia University (MSW). I specialize in a blend of psychodynamic therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and parts work. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as supporting clients navigating life transitions, identity exploration, climate distress, and relationship challenges.
I am an out-of-network therapist and can often submit claims on your behalf if you have out-of-network mental health benefits. My rate is $250 per 50-minute session, and I reserve a limited number of spots for sliding-scale therapy.
I offer in-person therapy in Downtown Manhattan and virtual therapy for clients across New York State. Whether you’re in Brooklyn, the Hudson Valley, or anywhere else in the state, we can meet online from the comfort of your home.
If you're curious about working together, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Feel free to reach out: meryl@agoodplacetherapy.com.
