I'm a Brooklyn-based psychotherapist offering online and in-person therapy across New York. I work with individuals navigating climate anxiety and eco-distress, parenthood, pregnancy loss, career changes, and other major life transitions. My approach is collaborative and grounded in insight—shaped by warmth, curiosity, and a deep respect for your inner world. I bring humor, honesty, and compassion into the therapy room, and I welcome all parts of you, especially the ones that feel messy, uncertain, or hard to name.
I specialize in the mental health impacts of the climate crisis. With over a decade of experience in climate technology before becoming a therapist, I understand how personal and overwhelming these concerns can feel. I support clients facing eco-anxiety, climate grief, burnout, and the weight of trying to make a difference in an uncertain world.
I also focus on maternal mental health, including postpartum depression, pregnancy loss, IVF, and the shifting identity of new motherhood. Whether you're navigating early parenthood or facing unexpected changes, you don’t have to do it alone. I also work with individuals exploring career transitions, and meaning-making during periods of personal growth.
A little more about me:
I hold degrees from Harvard (BA), the School of Visual Arts (MFA), Yale (MBA), and Columbia University (MSW). I specialize in a blend of psychodynamic therapy, CBT, mindfulness, and parts work. I have experience treating depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as supporting clients navigating life transitions, identity exploration, climate distress, and relationship challenges.
I am an out-of-network therapist and can often submit claims on your behalf if you have out-of-network mental health benefits. My rate is $250 per 50-minute session, and I reserve a limited number of spots for sliding-scale therapy.
I offer in-person therapy in Downtown Manhattan and virtual therapy for clients across New York State. Whether you’re in Brooklyn, the Hudson Valley, or anywhere else in the state, we can meet online from the comfort of your home.
If you're curious about working together, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Feel free to reach out: meryl@agoodplacetherapy.com.
